Halo Building
Pathology Laboratory - Medcity, London
Halo Building is the largest and most advanced Pathology Laboratory in Europe located in the heart of central London’s Medicity, providing world-class manual and automated sample handling systems. The newly revitalised building transforms what was previously a tired 1970s brutalist office tower, creating immaculate open plan spaces which allow for the integration of laboratory and executive functions; bright, flexible open plan spaces and a variety of sustainable features.
This complex project is a joint venture between The Doctors Laboratory (TDL), University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), and the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (RFL) forming Health Services Laboratories (HSL), introducing a foundation on which the partnership can grow, motivated and inspired by its surroundings, into the future.
The design team engaged with an artist to develop a range of bespoke abstract artwork reflecting the scientific graphics provided by the users to compliment the interiors, provide visual stimulation and to assist with wayfinding throughout the building. https://www.hslpathology.com/2018/07/04/art-in-the-laboratory-a-halo-perspective/
“ The architectural team that worked with us on the design and delivery process for The Halo building were outstanding. Together with our own technical and scientific teams they delivered not only a world class laboratory but an imaginative design that is a pleasure for us to work in. Their enthusiasm, creativity and high professional standards exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend their services. “
